Payton and Garrett met in January 2022 at a small group through Coastal Community Church in Galveston. Payton caught an interest in Garrett soon after meeting him. Payton and Garrett started talking more, and while Payton thought they were mutually moving closer to a relationship, Garrett was absolutely clueless. After a lot of prayer, patience, and Payton venting to friends, the Lord reminded us that His timing is always better than our own. In August, Garrett finally asked Payton on a date, with countless more to follow.

In the months to come they enjoyed many dates around Galveston, cooking together, Sunday’s at Coastal, weekend trips, and quality time with their dog Nash. Very quickly Garrett knew he wanted to marry Payton.

In October of 2023, Garrett asked Payton’s parents for their blessing to marry her and planned an incredible proposal for the end of the year. Payton and Garrett got engaged December 9th on a pier at East Beach in Galveston, Texas. They look back fondly (and with some laughs) on how the Lord has orchestrated their love story and are so excited for April 5, 2025.
